The Berkana

Doctrine

Our Ten Principles

Principles are the inheritance of every enduring institution. They shape its character, preserve its standards, and guide its decisions long after individual generations have passed.

The Berkana Doctrine defines the principles that unite our members and safeguard the culture upon which the consortium is built.

01

Give Before You Take

The strength of Berkana is built through generosity of knowledge, relationships, and experience. Every member is expected to contribute to the institution before drawing upon its collective value.

02

Every Member Is a Contributor

Membership is an active responsibility, not passive access. Each woman strengthens Berkana through her judgment, perspective, relationships, and experience.

03

Invest First, Then Introduce

Members introduce opportunities only where they have demonstrated personal conviction through investment or meaningful operational involvement. Credibility begins with personal commitment.

04

Discretion Is the Foundation of Trust

Confidentiality protects the quality of every conversation. What is shared within Berkana remains within Berkana, creating the confidence required for honest dialogue and enduring relationships.

05

Trusted Introduction Only

Membership begins with a personal introduction from an existing member. The consortium grows through trusted relationships rather than public application.

06

Alignment Over Agreement

Members are united by shared values, integrity, and long-term thinking. Diverse perspectives are welcomed; mutual respect is expected.

07

Independent Judgment

Berkana informs decisions but never makes them. Every member exercises her own judgment and remains fully independent in every investment decision.

08

Reciprocity

Knowledge, introductions, and opportunities are shared in the spirit of mutual benefit. Every member contributes to the collective; no one participates solely as a recipient.

09

A Continuous Standard

Membership is not defined by admission alone. It is reaffirmed through conduct, contribution, discretion, and the manner in which each member represents Berkana.

10

Stewardship Over Transaction

Berkana measures success not by the number of transactions completed, but by the strength of relationships built and the legacy created across generations.

Mission

To establish the world’s most trusted investment consortium for women stewarding significant private capital—where meaningful relationships, thoughtful contribution, and disciplined investment create enduring value across generations.

Vision

To build a global institution where women shape the future of private capital through trusted relationships, responsible stewardship, and the collective pursuit of lasting economic and societal impact.

Organizations and communities who share these values are invited to partner with Berkana.
